Learn About This Environmental Builder Who UNDERSTANDS

You’re in Business to Make A Profit!

Visit out BLOG to learn even more about Tom Coalson

After leaving college in 1972, Mr. Coalson entered the construction industry and since 1976 has implemented sustainable building practices on every job for which he’s been responsible.

  • Having spent nearly four decades as an “environmental builder,” Tom Coalson knew about toughing it out through the early days when oil was king, energy was cheap and “environmentalism” was a four-letter word.

  • Besides building, he has designed several self-sufficient residential developments, a state-of-the-art, sustainable transit-oriented development (TOD) and a commercial mixed-use project or two, all designed to achieve one level of self-sufficiency or another, and long before “green” was fashionable.

  • Most recently, as Vice President of Sustainable Construction for a Colorado residential developer, he pioneered that company’s first successful development for what will be Colorado’s first “net-zero” (heating, cooling and hot water) residential subdivision.

When Tom Coalson started in the construction business in the 1970s, he learned this important lesson early on: Sustainability can be profitable!

Since then, he has implemented sustainable building practices on every job with this goal: make it simple, pragmatic, and profitable!

In Tom’s four decades as an environmental builder he has acquired the following nationwide building experience:

  • Resort hotel construction (ground-up and renovation)

  • Custom homes (design/build) and millwork design

  • Tract-home developments, and apartment complexes

  • Commercial buildings and retail developments (new and tenant improvement)

  • Restaurant construction (new and renovation)

  • Bridge construction

  • Manufacture and installation for the hospitality industry

Trained in college as a writer, Tom, in his spare time, is developing a series of Continuing Education training manuals dealing with various aspects of green building for some of the oldest and most reputable online educational companies.

Tom is even called on as a keynote speaker. His enthusiasm for and about sustainability is infectious, and it comes through easily in all of his talks; from the built environment to greening the supply chain - and numerous topics in-between.

Tom recently spoke to Realtors® in Washington D.C. and Tom was invited to address the P2P Conference in Cairo, Egypt in November.

In addition, Tom has designed residential developments, a state-of-the-art transit-oriented development, and a commercial mixed-use project. All designed to achieve self-sufficiency and long before the term green was coined!

Most recently, Tom pioneered the successful development of Colorado’s first “net-zero” (heating, cooling, and hot water) residential subdivision.

Tom Coalson CAN help builders, developers, contractors, and others in the built environment meet their goal of adopting sustainable building practices that are simple, practical, and profitable.

Tom is here to help you untangle the complexities of sustainable building practices, environmental regulation and building codes and available federal, state and local tax incentives, credits and rebates.
